A new exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art, the result of the collaboration between Upper House, a reference point in Japan for prestigious European brands in the lifestyle and beauty sectors, and LamaroArte, an Italian company active at an international level in the promotion of figurative arts, with a special focus on new Italian talents.
Japan and Italy, Tokyo and Rome, places geographically distant but at the same time close in terms of historical sensitivity and ability to look to the future with respect for the traditions of the past.
Careful research has led to a selection of eight artists, emerging or already established on the Italian contemporary scene, who will bring their creations to life in the intimacy of the new Upper House spaces in Shibuya.
The challenge is ambitious: to make refined Japanese collectors appreciate art forms that are already esteemed in the West and which, with originality and courage, demonstrate personality and the ability to innovate. They know the history of the past, these artists, make it their own and manage to draw new lines in the direction of the future. As has always been the case with the great artists who have marked the history of two countries, Italy and Japan.
Works of abstract, figurative and conceptual art. Works of painting, sculpture and photography, all united by the need to tell their own story that becomes universal history, a message capable of establishing connections and which, we believe, for the Japanese public, may represent a prelude to renewed dialogues of mutual enrichment.
